A Season of Festive Events, Family Traditions, and Community Spirit
Santa arrives by Fire Truck during Our Village Glows event at The Shops at Highland Village
The holiday season officially begins with Our Village Glows, a cherished community tradition presented in partnership with the City of Highland Village and the Highland Village Women’s Club. Guests are invited to gather in The Backyard for a magical evening featuring the lighting of the center’s new, dazzling tree at 6:30 PM. Families will enjoy musical entertainment, face painting, ornament and cookie decorating, and Santa’s grand arrival by firetruck. The evening concludes with the smooth sounds of the Whitney James Jazz Quartet performing holiday classics.
Guests can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win gift baskets, local gift cards, and the opportunity for one lucky family to join Santa on stage for the tree lighting. Proceeds will benefit the Highland Village Women’s Club’s charitable programs. The Highland Village Police Department will also kick off its Stuff-A-Cruiser toy and food drive during the event.
The holiday spirit continues each weekend with beloved favorites returning throughout the season:
- Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides: Complimentary rides offered Fridays and Saturdays from 4–8 PM and Sundays from 2–6 PM, beginning November 28. Pick-up is located outside Great American Cookies. Two carriages will be available on Saturdays; rides are weather permitting.
- The Living Christmas Card Carolers: Victorian-costumed carolers will stroll the property on select dates from November 28 through December 21, performing traditional holiday favorites and spreading cheer throughout the center.
- Mrs. Claus Storytime at Learning Express – Thursday, December 4 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM: A cozy afternoon of holiday tales, milk, cookies, and a small takeaway for children.
- Brunch with Santa at Shoal Creek Tavern – Saturday, December 6 & Sunday, December 7 at 9:00 AM or 10:30 AM: Families can enjoy a delicious brunch, meet Santa Claus, build their own hot chocolate creations, and take home a holiday goody bag. Seating is limited; reservations are encouraged. Adults $20 and Kids $12.
- New Year’s Noon Celebration – Wednesday, December 31 from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM: Families are invited to ring in the new year early with a kid-friendly countdown, complete with a DJ dance party, balloon drop, face painting, photo opportunities, games, and festive characters in The Backyard.
